Get to Know Your Inner Muse to Understand Your Next Creative Focus
I’ve spent a lot of time talking about the inner voices that keep us from creating (meet the Jellyfish, the Judge and the Jailer, who comprise the Safety Squad that would rather we didn’t start, finish or show our work to anyone to keep us safe).
We also have inner voices that are helpful, inspirational and supportive.
They don't get as much attention. But now, it's time to meet them.
Last week, I introduced you to the Creative Council. Your Muse, your Maker and Your Mentor.
Let's get to know your inner Muse
Your Muse is the inner voice that is filled with ideas for new work, and also knows where to start and which idea to execute first.
To strengthen the relationship with this part of yourself, you can ask your Muse questions--maybe starting with these:
- What are some projects you want me to consider next?
- Where do you want me to start?
- What’s important about starting there?
- Anything else you want me to know?
Let's have some fun!!
I have spent a lot of time working to overcome resistance to get my work into the world. I’ll bet you have too. Wouldn’t it be fun to talk to the part of yourself that knows what you need to make or do next? The part of you that’s tapped into your creativity and is just waiting to flood you with ideas?
If you do this, I guarantee you’ll learn something you didn’t know. Try it and comment below about how you do. Or, schedule a conversation with me, and let's chat about it.
I'll support you on the journey to find your inner muse
