Use Passion, Plan, Profit to Begin Your Creative Business
Imagine waking up every morning to the work you were meant to do and supporting yourself with it. Passion, Plan, Profit shows you how to market your creative business. I wrote the book in 2009 and revised it this year. And now the revised copy is ready for sale.
Ironic, since I spent some time in August talking about how hard it is to employ the information in self-help books.
Why did I spend time revising a self-help book if they’re so hard to use?
Because even though it’s almost impossible to get through one by yourself, (and I don’t recommend that anyway), we still have to learn and grow and change somehow, and books are a rich source of information and guidance.
Passion, Plan, Profit is the poster child for information you need and guidance to follow if you want to start selling your art, or making yourself a day job. It takes you through the whole process of figuring out the purpose of your work, who you want to sell to, how to price, and what information to track to make sure you stay on the path.
Your odds of success increase exponentially if you make a plan to market your creative business before you start selling anything.
Plans themselves always change, but the process of planning is priceless.
But you can’t go it alone.
If you’re ready to start selling your art, or make a day job for yourself, or you have a business idea you want to try, here are some things you can do.
- Download my cheatsheet: Keep Calm & Sell Something. Follow the directions in there, and tell someone else you’re doing it so you can be accountable to them.
- If you want to make yourself a day job (which means starting a business), get Passion, Plan, Profit, and find someone, or better, three other someones, and go through the book together. The book tells you how to work in a group or in pairs, and you can download the worksheets in the book here.
- If you want guidance, book a 15 minute chat with me here and I’ll get you pointed in the right direction.
Starting Something New Is Prime Territory for Resistance
This is why we can’t go it alone. We always need someone to hold hands with. Once you get a buddy, odds are you won’t both be crazy (or discouraged) on the same day, and you can keep going.
Your work matters. Your art matters. Give it your best shot to get it into the world.
