Are You at the Tipping Point?

This week I finally uploaded to Amazon the revised version of the first book I ever published, Passion, Plan, Profit: Twelve Simple Steps to Convert Your Passion Into a Solid Business. It’s a business plan book for creatives who don’t like marketing or numbers.

The best part of this process? I finally reached the tipping point where I was ready to hit send.

Revision Anxiety

Have you ever revised something you wrote or made? It’s scary. I worried that I would go back into the book and find out my writing wasn’t very good. All that work! Worse--All that Public EXPOSURE!

But, when I went back to start the revisions, I saw two things. One: my writing wasn’t bad. And even better, my writing has improved since I finished the first edition of the book eleven years ago.

Still, it’s risky to put work out there. I fear the same outcomes everyone who makes things fears: criticism, or just as bad--crickets.

A Secret

Even when you finish something and put it out there, you can still make sure you don’t experience the trauma of criticism. You will avoid criticism by putting the work out there but not telling anyone, but you will also guarantee those crickets I talked about.

So I’m Telling You

Amazon is still doing admin work. Next week I should have the link to the book. In the meantime, if you’d like a review copy, email me.

Are You Holding On to Something That’s Ready to Ship?

Are you at the tipping point with your work? Do you just need to take a photo, click ‘post,’ or ‘send’ or ‘upload’ but you haven’t done it yet?

I Feel Your Pain, But Let's Do It

Or more accurately, I feel your fear. But join me anyway. If you’ve got something 95% ready, that’s good enough. Put it out.

Your work matters. Your art matters.

If you’d like to brainstorm for 15 minutes about money, getting your work into the world, how to make a day job, or how to start selling your art, set up a chat here with me.
